On the Beach

I stood on the beach and felt very small. Perhaps it was the all encompassing power of the sea and the vastness of the sand stretching far into another time. I watched the sun slowly set and dip behind the rows of sheltered amusements, which stretched for miles along the waterfront. Surrounded by such natural beauty, not only did I seem small but man seemed small. I knew that I was but a tiny note in a symphony written long before man walked the earth, and would still be playing long after man had gone. The circle was complete. This was truly the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. As I walked away I stopped to watch my footprints disappear with the tide never to return.
